Tinder Spain & Amnesty International Partner for Consent Guide

Dating app Tinder & human rights organisation Amnesty International partnered to promote respect and consent on International Kissing Day. The organisations have published a guide which outlines 8 key tips to a respectful kiss.

In some societies, April 13 is celebrated as International Kiss Day. In light of this special occasion, Tinder Spain highlighted that consent is key to creating the perfect kiss.

Tinder partnered with Amnesty International to provide an educational resource on how individuals can navigate the first kiss, keeping aware of when it is consensual and when it is not.

The guide includes practical tips on non-verbal communication, asking consent, and understanding feelings after the butterflies in your stomach have already passed.

“Many of the first interactions in the online dating world start with a Swipe, but, above all, we want them to be safe and consensual. Respect has always been fundamental for Tinder, starting with the “Match,” which requires both people to express their interest before they start talking”, said Vicente Balbastre, Senior Communications Manager of Tinder for the South of Europe.

“We know that security is complex and personal, and that consent goes beyond permission and rules, so we hope that this guide will help navigate appointments by promoting healthy relationships”, he added.

Amnesty International is a global movement which fights against human rights abuses and violations around the world.

Beatriz Martos, Head of Campaigns at Amnesty International in Spain explained that at “…Amnesty International we have been working for years on awareness campaigns on consent, because it is essential that all people feel safe in any space. Even in dating apps. To do this, we have made the perfect “Match,” which has among its main objectives to ensure the safety and protection of all users”.
