Match Group is expanding its international safety efforts with a new partnership in Brazil aimed at educating Tinder users and equipping them with better tools to stay safe. The company’s Trust & Safety team, led by VP Yoel Roth, recently hosted a roundtable in São Paulo alongside law enforcement, media, and advocacy groups to address growing concerns around online dating risks in the country.
The move comes after an internal survey of Brazilian Tinder users revealed troubling findings: fewer than 30% knew where to access safety features within the app. Additionally, over half of women surveyed reported fears of physical harm during dates, while 45% of men worried about scams or kidnapping. These findings point to an urgent need for user education and localized safety solutions.
To address these issues, Match Group partnered with Justiceiras, a Brazilian NGO that supports survivors of gender-based violence. Together, they’ve launched a new Dating Safety Guide and hotline tailored to Brazil’s cultural context. The initiative aims to improve awareness and use of Tinder’s existing safety features, which include tools like Photo & ID Verification, Blocked Contacts, and Share My Date.
“Technology needs to go hand in hand with protecting women,” said Justiceiras founder Gabriela Manssur, calling the collaboration an important step toward fostering respectful relationships and empowering users.
