Tinder Launches “+1 Fix” to Cover Wedding Date Costs for Singles

As wedding season gets underway, Tinder is tapping into a growing trend among singles: the search for a plus one. The dating app has launched a new initiative called The +1 Fix, which offers selected users up to £150 to help cover the cost of bringing a date to a wedding.

This move comes after Tinder observed a sharp increase in interest among users seeking wedding companions. According to internal data, mentions of “wedding +1” in user bios have risen by 69% over the past year. The desire for companionship at these events is also reflected in broader survey results, with 77% of British singles saying they feel more comfortable attending a wedding if they can bring a date.

Cost appears to be a significant barrier. Tinder’s research found that nearly 60% of young singles have spent over £200 attending weddings solo – covering expenses like travel, gifts, and attire. More than a third have declined invitations altogether because the cost didn’t make sense without someone to go with.

To address this, Tinder’s +1 Fix will provide financial support to 20 users who matched on the app in 2025. Each will receive up to £150 to offset the financial strain of attending a wedding with a date. The promotion runs from May 20 to June 20. “Weddings are meant to be fun and joyful, not stressful,” said Sinead Purcell, Tinder’s Director of Communications. “Tinder’s +1 Fix is here to take the awkwardness out of the equation – and to take the sting out of the costs.”
