Matrimony.com Marks 25 Years of Matchmaking in India

Matrimony.com has announced a major milestone, surpassing 40 million users as it celebrates 25 years in the Indian matchmaking industry. The Chennai-based company, known for its expansive digital matchmaking platforms, has grown from serving a single community to catering to diverse linguistic, religious, and regional groups across the country.

Founder and CEO Murugavel Janakiraman called the achievement “a moment of pride,” reflecting on the platform’s evolution. “It’s gratifying to see how the platform, initially created for a single community, has expanded to serve Indians across castes, communities, religions, and regions,” he said. Janakiraman also emphasized the company’s long-term mission of supporting the creation of lasting marriages.

Matrimony.com operates through more than 300 targeted platforms and supports users with over 500 relationship managers, 3,000 employees, and a network of more than 130 retail outlets across India. The company has also led the launch of Elite Matrimony for high-net-worth individuals and Community Matrimony, which serves over 300 distinct communities.

In recent years, the platform has increased its focus on inclusivity. The company introduced Jodii, a vernacular matchmaking app available in 10 Indian languages, aimed at individuals with varying educational backgrounds. It also launched RainbowLuv, a dedicated service for LGBTQIA+ users. Matrimony.com has recently further expanded into serious dating with two new apps: Luv.com, designed for individuals seeking committed relationships, and MeraLuv, tailored for Indian Americans.
