Snapchat Integrates Saturn Calendar Features to Deepen Friend Connectivity

Snapchat is beginning to integrate features from Saturn, the student-focused calendar app it acquired earlier this year, into user profiles. The move is aimed at enhancing real-time visibility into friends’ daily activities and commitments, particularly for students managing busy school schedules.

Users who connect their Saturn accounts with Snapchat will soon see their calendar status displayed beneath their display name on their Snap profiles. This integration allows friends to view each other’s schedules directly within the Snapchat app, providing new opportunities for coordination and connection.

According to Snapchat’s updated Help Center documentation, “Saturn lets you share your schedule with friends so they can see what you’re up to in real time in the Snapchat app.” The link between accounts can be established through either app, and once connected, users will be able to control visibility settings from Snapchat’s “Partner Connections” section.

The collaboration between the two platforms also extends into messaging. If two users have both accounts connected, tapping the “Chat” button in Saturn will open a Snapchat conversation. Depending on the relationship, it will either initiate a chat or direct the user to a friend’s profile on Snapchat. While Saturn will remain a standalone app for now, this integration signals a broader strategy by Snap to bring the two platforms closer together. The company appears focused on leveraging Saturn’s popularity among students to deepen engagement on Snapchat and expand its utility beyond messaging and media sharing.

Snap has not confirmed a specific release date for the full Saturn feature rollout within Snapchat, but the groundwork suggests the functionality is imminent. This latest update aligns with Snap’s broader push to evolve Snapchat into a more dynamic tool for real-world social coordination.
