TikTok has launched a new “Security Checkup” feature, giving users a centralized way to review and enhance their account security. Announced on Monday, this tool aims to help users safeguard their profiles by making key security settings more accessible.
Similar to security features already offered by Instagram and Google, TikTok’s Security Checkup guides users through important protective measures. Accessible via the “Security and permissions” section in Settings and privacy, the tool encourages users to take proactive steps such as linking their phone number and email for account recovery, enabling two-step verification, and monitoring active logins.
A key focus of the tool is device management, prompting users to review which devices are logged into their accounts and remove any that appear unfamiliar. It also recommends enabling device-based authentication, such as Face ID or Touch Unlock, for added security. TikTok emphasized that it proactively monitors accounts for suspicious activity, flagging any concerns within the Security and permissions settings – however, these new features allow users to actively protect their account in a more effective way.
As concerns over online security and data privacy grow, TikTok’s latest move aligns with broader efforts across the tech industry to strengthen user protection. Despite still technically being at risk of being sold off or banned frmo the United States, TikTok continues to introduce new features, including updates aimed at enhancing **** safety and an improved desktop experience designed to compete with YouTube.
