Instagram is experimenting with a new feature that offers creators a monthly performance summary of their content, aimed at helping users better understand what’s working on their profiles and when their audiences are most engaged.
The feature, currently in testing, appears as a prompt within the app, inviting users to view a recap of the previous month’s activity. Shared by app researcher Yasser Masood, the summary is delivered in a Story-like format and includes key stats such as total views across Reels and posts, comparisons with the previous month, and breakdowns of views from followers versus non-followers.
In addition to raw metrics, the recap offers insights into user behaviour – such as when an audience was most active – as well as recommendations to improve content performance. Tips on post timing and engagement strategies are included, helping users refine their approach based on their unique audience data, effectively making this tool a way to get clearer details on how any given audience operates.
While Instagram’s Insights tab already provides access to this information, the new recap offers a more digestible and visually guided overview. It also acts as a helpful nudge for creators who might not regularly check their analytics. The addition of active audience time data may be particularly useful, given that general advice about the “best times to post” often lacks personalization – all of this naturally serves to push creators into making more targeted and more effective content, which benefits both them and Instagram.
This feature is part of Instagram’s broader push to support creators and small businesses by making analytics more accessible and actionable. The company has not yet announced when or if the feature will roll out more widely, but it could become a valuable tool for users looking to fine-tune their content strategy.
