Reddit Launches Smart Ad Suggestions to Improve Campaign ROI

Reddit has introduced a new feature in its Ad Manager designed to help advertisers optimize campaign performance through real-time, automated recommendations. The system provides personalized suggestions based on analysis of both user campaigns and broader platform data trends.

At the center of this update is a new “Optimization Score,” a metric that evaluates how well an ad account aligns with Reddit’s best practices. The closer an account’s score is to 100, the more effectively it is considered to be set up. Scores under 80 will prompt actionable guidance, with the goal of improving ad effectiveness through targeted tweaks such as adjusting budgets, formats, or targeting parameters.

These in-stream tips are integrated directly into the Ad Manager interface and update continuously, reflecting current campaign status and performance metrics. Advertisers who are already following Reddit’s recommendations closely will see fewer suggestions, while those with room for improvement will receive clearer guidance.

The move comes as Reddit positions itself as a more influential player in e-commerce and product discovery. The platform notes that 88% of users consult Reddit for purchase-related decisions, often turning to its communities for unfiltered opinions and advice. This trend is supported by Reddit’s strong presence in search results, with users increasingly adding “Reddit” to queries to surface authentic reviews.

By introducing automated recommendations, Reddit aims to simplify campaign management while reinforcing its value as a commerce-focused platform – something that it has historically struggled with at times, due to being so different from conventional modern social media platforms. For marketers, the new optimization system offers a streamlined way to align with platform standards and potentially enhance return on ad spend.
