Bambuser Teams Up with Alibaba Cloud to Bring Live Video Shopping to China

Bambuser, a leading player in video commerce, has announced a strategic partnership with Alibaba Cloud to introduce its shoppable video solutions to the Chinese market. This collaboration aims to support brands in enhancing their direct-to-consumer (D2C) strategies by leveraging live video shopping—an increasingly dominant trend among Chinese online shoppers.

China’s e-commerce landscape, the largest globally, is heavily influenced by live streaming as a key shopping behavior, with over half of internet users engaging in live video shopping. By partnering with Alibaba Cloud, Bambuser is able to utilize the latter’s secure cloud infrastructure and advanced video technologies to deliver a comprehensive video commerce platform. The offering includes features such as Digital Clienteling, Live Video Shopping, Shoppable Videos, and integrated chat functionalities designed to create interactive and personalized shopping experiences.

Esmie Wang, General Manager of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence’s EU region, emphasized the importance of this partnership in driving retail innovation in China. She stated, “By leveraging Alibaba Cloud’s technological expertise and extensive local ecosystem, we are proactively innovating in video streaming and live shopping solutions to accelerate industry development.”

With many brands in China shifting focus toward selling directly through their own apps and mini-programs, Bambuser aims to empower these businesses by providing tools that give greater control over customer engagement and sales processes. Bambuser CEO Maryam Ghahremani highlighted this shift: “Our goal is to provide a platform that helps brands have more control and autonomy, while also addressing the specific needs of the Chinese e-commerce market.”
