Meta Expands AI Voice Translation Tools to Creators Worldwide

Meta is rolling out its AI-powered voice translation feature to creators globally on Facebook and Instagram, aiming to help content reach audiences beyond language barriers. The update, announced Tuesday, builds on a pilot that was first revealed at the company’s Connect developer conference last year.

The tool allows creators to translate their reels into another language while retaining their own voice. Meta says the AI system reproduces the creator’s tone and sound, making dubbed content feel more authentic. An optional lip-sync feature also aligns the translation with mouth movements to create a more natural viewing experience.

At launch, translations are limited to English and Spanish, but more languages are expected to follow. The feature is currently available to Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers and to all public Instagram accounts in markets where Meta AI is supported.

Creators can enable the option by selecting “Translate your voice with Meta AI” before publishing a reel, choosing whether to include lip-syncing, and previewing the result. Translations can be toggled off at any time, and viewers will see a notice indicating when AI has been used.

Alongside the rollout, creators will gain access to a new Insights metric showing views by language, giving them more visibility into how translations expand their reach. In addition, Facebook creators can upload up to 20 of their own dubbed audio tracks through the Meta Business Suite, offering another route to multilingual content distribution.

Meta says its goal is to lower cultural and linguistic barriers for creators. “If we can help you reach those audiences who speak other languages, reach across cultural and linguistic barriers, we can help you grow your following,” Instagram head Adam Mosseri said in a post.
